Civil Liability Insurance
Sciences Po is insured for the activities it organizes or supervises (classes, teaching, educational activities, etc.).
This insurance applies only when Sciences Po's liability is engaged. It does not replace your personal civil liability insurance.
Internships
- Internship in France: Damage caused in the course of the internship is, in principle, covered by the host organization's civil liability insurance and, depending on the circumstances, by the student's own civil liability insurance.
- Internship abroad: Students benefit from private civil liability insurance under Sciences Po's insurance policy. No individual insurance certificate will be issued.
What is not covered
Sciences Po's insurance does not cover:
- damage caused directly between students;
- activities relating to your private life or not organized by Sciences Po.
In these situations, your personal civil liability insurance applies.
Housing insurance
In France it is mandatory for tenants to take out multi-risk home insurance. An “assurance habitation” policy insures you for rental risks, fire, water damage, natural disasters and theft. The lessor will ask for proof of insurance coverage when you take possession of the rental. Not having insurance coverage is grounds for immediate cancellation of your lease. We strongly recommend you subscribe a home insurance during your stay abroad as well.
Assistance and Repatriation Insurance
When travelling or studying abroad, you are provided with assistance and repatriation insurance, subject to the terms, conditions, and limits set out in the policy documents available in your Student Space.
Access your insurance documents and detailed information through your Student Space under the "Administrative Certificates" section.
