2023 Dominique Baudis-Sciences Po Award

Section #sciencespo
Prix dominique Baudis 2023

The Dominique Baudis association (in French) was formed to pay tribute to the memory of Dominique Baudis, who always placed public good at the centre of his action. To this aim, the association has decided to join forces with his alma mater, Sciences Po, to launch the Dominique Baudis award for a non-professional audiovisual work, highlighting a commitment to the common good.

In his roles as journalist, newsreader and president of the French broadcasting authority, the CSA (now known as Arcom), Dominique Baudis was committed to developing access to information as a public service, as widely as possible. As MP and mayor of Toulouse, departmental councillor of Haute-Garonne and president of the Regional Council of Midi-Pyrénées, he made every effort for Toulouse and its region to rank amongst the most dynamic and attractive zones in Europe. As a reporter in the Lebanon, Euro MP and president of the Institut du monde arabe, he worked tirelessly to create connections between peoples. Finally, as the first ever Defender of Rights, an independent constitutional authority, he fought against discrimination and injustice.

This prize, which carries a value of 3,000 euros, will be awarded to 3 short amateur video productions, produced using everyday tools (mobile phone, personal computer, consumer software, etc.), focusing on an involvement in the spheres mentioned above (public engagement, defence of rights, connections between peoples, public information). The winner of the first prize will be awarded 2,000 euros, the runner-up, 750 euros and a special mention, 250 euros.
