Teaching
Bachelor's programme focused on the Middle East and the Mediterranean
The Middle East-Mediterranean programme on the Menton campus focuses on the political, economic and social affairs of the Mediterranean, Middle East and Gulf countries. The multidisciplinary curriculum combines social science courses and specialised courses on the region taught in three languages (French, English and Arabic).
The Europe-Africa programme on the Reims campus contributes to a better understanding of the political, economic, social and cultural dynamics of Africa. The Maghreb figures prominently in the programme.
The general programme (FR) taught at the Paris campus also offers courses on North Africa, the Middle East and Turkey.
Master's concentration on the Middle East and the Mediterranean
The Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) offers concentrations on eight regions. Middle Eastern Studies is one of the concentrations available.
Exchange programme
Sciences Po welcomes university students on exchange from its Middle Eastern and North African partners every year. Sciences Po students also complete exchanges at these universities, either in their third undergraduate year or during their Master's programme.
Research
At Sciences Po, research on the Maghreb, the Middle East and Turkey is concentrated at the Centre for International Studies and the Doctoral School.
Partnership with the Kuwait Foundation
The Kuwait Programme is a partnership between Sciences Po and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. Both institutions support teaching and research in the social sciences and humanities, with a focus on the study of the Arab world and the Gulf region. Schemes implemented through the partnership include a student scholarship and a visiting professors programme.
Leadership programme: Women of the Mediterranean – Next Generation of Leaders
Women of the Mediterranean: Next Generation of Leaders is a unique training programme designed by Sciences Po for young women from the southern Mediterranean. The course is supported by the French Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Development and of Social Affairs, Health and Women's Rights, and has recently been endorsed by the Union for the Mediterranean.
It aims to develop the skills and careers of young women involved in promoting gender equality, in view of building a dynamic network of gender-parity advocates across Europe and the Southern Mediterranean countries.
