Max Lazard Prize

The Max Lazard Prize rewards original projects that will lead to a publication or distribution, regardless of the chosen format. The project can be research or study based, a discovery trip, a stay in an institution or a social group abroad, or a documentary, which aims to result in a publication.

This project must be carried out individually by the candidate.

The candidates selected and accepted by the jury will also be able to collaborate in Sens public blogs.

The laureates receive financial support of up to 3000 euros, according to the needs of their project, and are offered the possibility to publish an article or feature piece of their project in the journal Sens public, subject to acceptance by the scientific committee.

Since 1956, this prize has supported candidates who wish to explore an idea or an interest in depth and who wish to confront themselves and the world. Often addressing a social and civic issue, the prize distinguished Serge Klarsfeld at its beginning, and many others since then. Several of its alumni have become recognized researchers.

Max Lazard (1875-1953) left the bank founded by his family, became a volunteer social worker and wrote a thesis on unemployment. He assisted Albert Thomas during the First World War and later worked for civic and political education in a European spirit.
