Study in Europe

As a student at Sciences Po, you can spend time abroad at three different moments:

  • Students are required to spend their third year of the Bachelor’s programme abroad, either studying at a partner university, on an internship or undertaking a personal project.
  • One semester of the Master’s programme is spent outside Sciences Po, and studying abroad is one of the possibilities.
  • During your doctorate, you may choose to participate in a PhD exchange programme.

Erasmus +

The Erasmus+ programme is one of the biggest advantages of choosing a year abroad in Europe. It encourages mobility in Europe and internationally for students, faculty and staff of higher education institutions. All students who spend their year abroad in one of the 33 programme countries is entitled to receive the Erasmus+ grant that varies from approximately €150 to €300 per month depending on their destination.

Undergraduates

During the fall semester

Set Goals: Come up with a project for your third year by think about what you want to get out of your year abroad. What languages would you like to use and learn? Would you prefer to be in a big city or on a big campus? Would you rather focus on one discipline or study new subjects? Etc.

Get Informed: Find out what options are available by attending or watching an information session on studying abroad in Europe or in particular countries or regions. If you are unable to attend then please watch the video recordings.

Refine: Narrow down your options by checking the language requirements, reading study abroad reports, visiting partner university websites, and talking to exchange students both past and present.

Meet: Make an appointment to meet with the DAI for detailed guidance and advising regarding your shortlist of options.  Meetings can be in person or online (via Google Hangouts). Please note in order to offer you tailored-made advice you must fill in the questionnaire and submit it ahead of time.

Rank: Once your 6 choices have been ranked you are ready to submit your application.

During the spring semester

Once your application for a university has been approved by the exchange programme committee, you must be formally accepted by the host university. To do so, you need to complete an application and provide the supporting documents requested by the university. The list of supporting documents can vary from one university to another. The DAI will be in touch with you to let you know what to do.

Information sessions will be organized for students going to a particular country or region to equip them with all of the information they need to have a successful stay. These will be announced here and by email and Facebook.
