Twenty-five years in the making and dominating headlines since its signing in January 2026, the EU-Mercosur agreement has become one of the most debated trade deals of our generation. But beyond the politics, what are the real stakes?

On March 26th, Pour le Brésil brings together seven leading experts for a structured roundtable at Sciences Po Paris, designed to examine what this historic trade deal actually means for both sides of the Atlantic.

The discussion will unfold across four thematic clusters: the legal architecture and ratification dynamics, including the ongoing CJEU review procedure; the economic and sectoral consequences for both blocs; the environmental commitments and their credibility on the ground; and the broader geopolitical implications for the EU-Mercosur relationship in a rapidly shifting global order.

The panel brings together Florence Pinot de Villechenon (CERALE, ESCP), Thierry Mayer and Régis Bismuth (Sciences Po), Antoine Bouët and Charlotte Emlinger (CEPII), François-Michel Le Tourneau (CNRS), and Gustavo Ribeiro (The Brazilian Report), with the latter two joining remotely from Brazil.
