Women, Peace and Security in Africa

60 minutes on “Women, Peace and Security in Africa” with Ms Bineta Diop, the African Union Commission Chairperson’s Special Envoy on Women Peace and Security, a position she took up in 2014.

A Senegalese women’s rights activist, founder and president of the international NGO Femmes Africa Solidarité, Ms. Diop has led peace building programs, women peace and security initiatives on the continent as well as elections observation missions and has played a significant role in involving women in peace negotiations and in achieving gender parity within the African Union Commission. 

Chaired by Ms Elisabeth Marteu, Lecturer at Sciences Po, she is a political scientist, expert on gender, peace and security related issues.
