Bineta Diop is a Senegalese women's rights activist and founder of the NGO "Femmes Africa Solidarité". >Bineta Diop will hold an exclusive dialogue with PSIA students and talk about her role as Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security at the African Union Commission. 

This event will be chaired by Elisabeth Marteu, Lecturer at Sciences Po Paris. Dr Marteu is a political scientist, expert on gender, peace and security related issues.

 

Biography:

Bineta Diop is the African Union Commission Chairperson's Special Envoy on Women Peace and Security, a position she took up in 2014. She has played an instrumental role in achieving gender parity within the AUC.

Ms. Diop has led peace building programs, women peace and security initiative on the continent as well as elections observation mission and has played a significant role in involving women in peace negotiations.

She is the founder and president of Femmes Africa Solidarité, an international NGO dedicated to promoting peace, security and development in Africa.
