EU member states and candidate countries are increasingly exposed to the domestic impact of EU regulations, policy instruments, and discourses in two relatively contentious policy fields: gender equality and antidiscrimination. This impact not only affects national or subnational legislations and equality machineries, but also the framing and the wording of these policies, providing domestic actors with new institutional and discursive resources or opportunity structures. Bringing together the most recent insights from Europeanization and gender scholarships from a discursive-sociological perspective, a recently published volume explores the divergent policy outputs in the member states as regards the making of gender equality and anti-discrimination policies.
Maxime FOREST, post-doc researcher at PRESAGE-Sciences Po, lecturer at Paris III and associate researcher at the University Complutense of Madrid. Holding a PhD from Sciences Po Paris, he was a post-doc researcher in the QUING project (Quality in Gender+ Equality Policies in Europe, FP6) from 2008 to 2011. His main research and teaching interests include the comparative analysis of gender equality and antidiscrimination policies, the discursive, sociological and institutional dimensions of the Europeanization of domestic polities, and gender in parliamentary politics in the enlarged EU.
In 2012, he coedited with Emanuela LOMBARDO:” The Europeanization of Gender Equality Policies. A Discursive-Sociological Approach”, Basingtoke: Palgrave-Macmillan.
