Scientific Impact: Measurement and Policy Evaluation

This conference brings together historian of science, economists, political scientists, and sociologists. The aim is to discuss the historical, political, and academic issues surrounding the measure of the impact of science. Sessions will question the rise of new tools, such as bibliometrics, and their impact on the organization and productivity of scientific work.

 

With guest speakers :

– Yves Gingras, sociologist and historian, sociologist of sciences. Professor at the University of Québec in Montréal (UQAM). Chair holder of the Canada Research Chair in the History and Sociology of Science. Scientific director and cofounder of the “Observatoire des sciences et des technologies” (OST).

– Dagmar Simon, political science studies. Head of Research Group “Science Policy Studies” at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB)- Berlin Social Science Center, Germany. Her researches are focused on science policy studies, analysis of organizations and gender studies. She had coordinated the “Research Institute of Information and Quality Assurance” (FIQ), from 2000 to 2007, working on monitoring the scientific system.

– Clément Bosquet, economist. Associate researcher at the “Spatial Economics research Centre”, London School of Economics. Associate researcher, LIEPP – Sciences Po Assistant professor in Economics, Thema- Economic theory economic models and applications, University of Cergy-Pontoise He is particularly interested in Economics of Innovation and Science.

 

– Alessandro Iaria, economist. Assistant professor of economics, CREST, Research Centre in Economics and statistics- ENSAE Visiting scholar at Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) His research focuses on Economics of Innovation and Science, Applied Econometrics amongst others.
