Presentation
The goal of the presentation will be to discuss the different ways in which law has been designed to achieve economic development in Latin America. It will discuss three topics: social policy, access to property and the inclusion of gender in economic development. The ultimate goal will be to explore diverse theoretical frameworks, their limitations and possibilities.
Speakers
- Helena Alviar García is an expert in law and development, property law, social and economic rights, feminism and transitional justice. Professor Alviar is also the co-founder of Dejusticia, one of the leading human rights NGO’s in the Global South. She is professor at Sciences Po and also an academic member of the Institute for Global Law and Policy-IGLP- at Harvard Law School.
- Moderation: Bruno Palier, CNRS Research Director at Sciences Po, Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics, with the help of a few students from the Social Policy and Social Innovation stream.
Masterclass held in English, in the framework of the Social Policy and Social Innovation stream (School of Public Affairs).
