À propos de cet événement
Le 19 février 2014 de 18:30 à 20:00
A debate with Professor Qi YE, Director of the Climate Policy Institute at Tsinghua University and Visiting Professor at PSIA-Sciences Po.
Introduced by Professor Richard BALME, Permanent Professor at Sciences Po, Director of the Master in International Public Management at PSIA-Sciences Po, Program Director of ‘Governance and Globalization: Sciences Po in China’
In less than two years, nations around the world are going to gather here in Paris in order to reach a grand agreement on climate change. Yet, nothing seems to be clear or concrete at the moment for such an agreement as the world’s moving quickly in time. China, a leading greenhouse gas contributor in the world, is taking the issue of climate change more seriously than ever, and arguably is second to none in terms of ambition on green transformation of the economy, with its new generation of leaders committed to bigger and deeper reforms of the economic and political systems. What can be expected from China on global agreement on climate? What has China and developing world been offered in assistance and capacity-building from the developed countries? What policies has China been implementing on improving energy efficiency and developing renewable energy? How effective are these policies? What do all these mean for the big gathering here in Paris in 2015?
Professor Qi Ye, will present the data and analysis from the new Annual Review of Low Carbon Development in China and offer his personal take on these questions. Different views and perspectives are invited for a constructive and productive debate on the issue.
