Back to the Undergraduate Campuses: Key Figures and Pictures

The Dijon campus welcomed Jean-Claude Trichet, former President of the European Central Bank and former Governor of the Banque de France, on 28 August for its opening lecture, in the presence of Lukáš Macek, Campus Director, Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undergraduate College, and representatives from partner local authorities – Dijon Métropole, the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region and the City of Dijon.

This year, a total of 286 students are enrolled on the campus, including 102 first-year students. 9 first-year students are part of Sciences Po’s Equal Opportunity Programme (CEP), with 12 partner secondary schools across the region.

Among the distinctive features of the campus are:

• The study of the European Union, in particular issues relating to its past and future enlargements and its neighbours, notably to the east;
• Central and Eastern Europe;
• European language courses, notably certain ‘less commonly taught’ official EU languages (Hungarian, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Czech, and Romanian), as well as Russian;
• The opportunity to obtain the Certification in Cities and Regions, the Certification in Gender and Equality, and the CIVICA European Certification.

A highlight of the new academic year?

To mark its 25th anniversary, celebrated this year, a weekend of festivities took place from 25 to 27 September, bringing together more than 250 former students representing every graduating class that has passed through the campus.

The campus in Le Havre hosted Thibault Bruttin, Director General of Reporters Without Borders, for its inaugural lecture on 2 September on the topic of “information and disinformation”, in the presence of Michael Hauchecorne, Director of the campus, Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undergraduate College, Augustin Bœuf, Vice-President of Le Havre metropolitan area, and representatives from the Normandy region.

In total, 323 students are enrolled on the campus this year, including 156 first-year students. 56 first-year students are enrolled on a dual degree programme: including with partner universities in Asia-Pacific and North America. 4 students have been admitted through the Equal Opportunity Programme (CEP), with 13 local partner secondary schools.

Among the campus’s distinctive features:

• Its English-taught programme focused on the Asia-Pacific region;
• The Seas and Oceans Certification;
• Students’ civic engagement, reinforced by the compulsory Civic Learning Programme, which fosters local roots and cooperation with local organisations. The campus has more than 105 partners for the civic engagement programme in Le Havre area, and students carry out more than 10,000 hours of voluntary work there over the course of the year;
• The Hémicycle project (a two-day parliamentary simulation involving students and secondary school pupils from the region), which engages students in schools to develop education in citizenship and democracy;
• The ‘Memory and Peace’ project, which engages students in regional initiatives on these themes and is supported by the Normandy World Forum for Peace.

Key events in 2026–2027?

• Le Havre campus is celebrating its 20th academic year;
• Strengthening the junior research initiative through conferences and publications, enabling students to work on topics related to the Pacific and international law, in collaboration with researchers and lecturers;
• Major cultural highlights, particularly around Asian festivals: Diwali, Lunar New Year, etc.

To mark the start of the 2026 academic year on 4 September, the Menton campus will welcome Kamel Daoud, writer and recipient of the 2024 Prix Goncourt, in the presence of Youssef Halaoua, Campus Director, Luis Vassy, President of Sciences Po, Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undegraduate College, Khaled Bouabdallah, Rector representing the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Space, François de Canson, Vice-President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council, Lionel Beffre, Government Councillor and Minister for the Interior of the Principality of Monaco, and Alexandra Masson, Mayor of Menton.

The new intake of first-year students numbers 196, bringing the total number of students on campus to 570. Many students on campus are enrolled in dual degree programmes, including 29 with Columbia University and 8 with University College London. Fourteen of the first-year students come from the Equal Opportunity (CEP), with nine partner secondary schools within the Nice school district.

Events not to be missed in 2026 on campus and its Mediterranean–Middle East minor?

• On 19 September: the campus opens its doors for the European Heritage Days;
• In October: a Sciences Po team will attend the international university tennis tournament organised by French business school HEC at the Monte-Carlo Country Club;
• 8 October: a conference showcasing young literary talent among Sciences Po graduates as part of the Menton Colloquia on 8 October 2026. A student from the Menton campus will moderate a conversation between Manon Tallien de Cabarrus (journalist and author of the debut novel Thérésia) and Capucine Delattre (her publisher at Eyrolles);
• Fall: a talk by Annick Cojean, senior correspondent at the newspaper Le Monde, to mark the publication of her series of six reports on the voices of Afghan women, “Paroles d’Afghanes”.

The Nancy campus held its official opening ceremony on 31 August, attended by François Laval, Campus Director; Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undergraduate College; François Werner, Vice-President of the Grand-Est region; Chaynesse Khirouni, President of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department; and Mathieu Klein, Mayor of Nancy. The opening lecture for the new academic year was delivered by the guest of honour, Sophie Lagoutte, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Sciences Po alumna.

160 students are starting their first year on campus, bringing the total number to 462 students. 31 first-year students are enrolled on the selective dual degree programme with Freie Universität Berlin (selection rate of 9 per cent). 10 students are part of Sciences Po’s Equal Opportunity Programme (CEP), with 6 local partner secondary schools.

Among the distinctive features of the campus:

• Its European Union, Franco-German Partnership Minor;
• The opportunity to undertake the Certification in Gender and Equality the European CIVICA Certification;
• Eurocosmos, the simulation of EU’s institutional triangle;
• Europe Week at the EU institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg;
• Joint modules with a French engineering school (École des Mines de Nancy);
• Art workshops run by a French art and design school (École nationale supérieure d’art et de design de Nancy).

The Paris campus welcomed Eva Illouz, a sociologist at EHESS (a renown French school of social sciences), on 25 August for her inaugural lecture, attended by Luis Vassy, President of Sciences Po, Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undergraduate College, and Marie Rassat, her deputy. A lecture on the theme of the responsibility of intellectuals which can be found on the Grand Continent website (in French).

“Do not forget that criticism is only responsible when it refuses to be an absolute power; that the radical nature of a critique does not make it—or does not always make it—more just; that it must consider its consequences; that seeking the truth does not mean suspecting everyone of lying; that identifying the true culprits behind the world’s misfortunes requires patient, methodical work; that generalised suspicion is no more valuable than the ability to make subtle distinctions; that victims, even genuine ones, must not demand that we relinquish our judgement in the name of unconditional loyalty; and that only humility and courage help us to think freely.”

The Poitiers campus invited former Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin to deliver its inaugural lecture on 27 August, in the presence of Luis Vassy, President of Sciences Po, Pascale Leclercq, Campus Director, Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undergraduate College, and Anthony Brottier, Mayor of Poitiers.

There are 145 first-year students, bringing the total number to 418 students. In the first year, 39 per cent of students are international or dual nationals, and 12 per cent of students come from the Equal Opportunity Programme (CEP), with 9 partner secondary schools in the local area.

Among the distinctive features of the campus are:

• Its Latin America and the Caribbean minor;
• Active involvement in local life, with nearly 80 partner organisations in the Civic Learning Programme and a partnership with Poitiers University;
• The Overseas Territories Week, organised by Sciences Ô to promote overseas culture;
• The Hispanic Project: meetings between 140 pupils from secondary schools under the Equal Opportunity Programme (CEP) and Spanish-speaking students.

A memorable event in 2026?

The campus is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, a milestone marked by the launch, at the start of the next academic year, of a dual bachelor’s degree programme with the Fundação Getulio Vargas – Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo (FGV EAESP).

The Reims campus had the honour of welcoming Anne-Claire Legendre, President of the Institut du Monde Arabe, on 1 September, in the presence of Luis Vassy, President of Sciences Po, Pierre Catalan, Campus Director, Jeanne Lazarus, Dean of the Undergraduate College, Arnaud Robinet, Mayor of Reims and President of Grand Reims, as well as Laure Miller and Xavier Albertini, Members of Parliament for the Marne. Departmental and regional officials were present to address the new students.

Among the 1,576 students on campus, 587 students are joining as first-year students in 2026, including 35 students admitted through the Equal Opportunity Programme (CEP), with 10 partner secondary schools in the local area. 121 students are enrolled on dual Bachelor’s degree programmes with Columbia University, the University of British Columbia, UC Berkeley, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Sydney, NUS in Singapore, and LUISS in Rome.

Among the distinctive features of the campus:

• Its North America and Africa minors;
• The Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc) in “Environment, Society, and Sustainability” with the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne;
• the Civic Learning Forum, attended by 30 partner organisations;
• The Reims International Model of United Nations (RIMUN), which brings together around 250 university and secondary school students at each event;
• the “Pathways to Success” scheme (as part of the official French Cordées de la réussite initiative supported by the Ministry of National Education), which now brings together eight secondary schools in both rural and urban areas, and enables more than 180 secondary school pupils to be mentored by around 50 students from the campus.

A landmark project for 2026–2027?

At the start of the next academic year, the campus will welcome the first cohort of students on the Dual Bachelor in Politics, Economics, and Management (PEM) with ESCP Business School. Students will complete their first two years of study here, before moving on to ESCP’s campuses in London, then Berlin, Madrid, Turin, or Paris.
