Victor Violier
victor.violier@sciencespo.frVictor Violier is a postdoctoral researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) affiliated with the Center for International Studies (CERI) and the Institute for Strategic Research of the Military School (IRSEM), and a associate researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of Politics (ISP).
His doctoral thesis, defended on November 9, 2021, at Paris Nanterre University, focuses on the transformations of the state in Russia through the lens of cadre policy and from the margins of administration, spanning from Stalinist USSR to contemporary Russia.
He is currently engaged in two research projects. The first project explores the evolution of elite consensus in Russia in wartime. The second project investigates US expertise on Russia since the end of the USSR through an ethnography of knowledge production and circulation spaces.
He is an elected member of the boards of the Sociology of Elites (RT 42) and Political Sociology (RT 34) sections of the French Sociological Association (AFS). Within CERI, he is a member of the organizing team of the seminar "Beyond Post-Sovietism: Social and Political Dynamics" and a scientific co-coordinator of the Postdoctoral seminar. Victor Violier has been teaching political science since 2013, focusing on political sociology, public action and transformations of the State, and comparative sociology of political institutions. In 2022, he has been qualified for the position of Associate Professor by sections 04 (political science), 13 (Slavic and Baltic studies), and 19 (sociology, demography) of the French National Council of Universities (CNU).
