Sciences Po's Department of Economics is pleased to be hosting an exceptional conference with Jens WEIDMANN, President of Deutsche Bundesbank.

Jens WEIDMANN will present his views on the current state of economics affairs in the Euro zone and future monetary policy. The floor will then be opened for a dynamic Q&A session.

Dr. Jens WEIDMANN is an economist.  In 2011 he became the youngest President of the Deutsche Bundesbank in the 50-year history of the German central bank and has been responsible for navigating it through the choppy waters of the European sovereign debt crisis.

Prior to this posting, he served as the Head of Department of Economic and Financial Policy at the Federal Chancellery for 4 years. He was the chief negotiator of the Federal Republic of Germany for both the G8 and G20 summits - the Chancellor Angela Merkel notably named him "Sherpa" to the G8 summit in 2009.

Conference with Grégoire CHERTOK (Partner, Rothschild & Cie) - November 13th

25 ans de corporate finance sur la place de Paris: le regard d'un banquier d'affaires

Sciences Po's Department of Economics is hosting an exceptional conference with Grégoire CHERTOK, Partner and Member of the Executive Committee of Rothschild & Cie. 

He will present his view as one of France's most eminent investment bankeers of the past 25 years on French corporate finance. The floor will then be opened for a dynamic Q&A session.

Grégoire Chertok graduated from ESSEC in 1988 and completed his formal education with a diploma in financial analysis from SFAF (the « French Society of Financial Analysts ») in 1990 and an MBA from INSEAD in 1993.

Grégoire Chertok joined Rothschild & Cie Compagnie Banque in 1991 and has been partner since 2000. He is member of the Executive Committee of Rothschild & Cie Banque, member of Rothschild & Cie’s Comex and member of Member of the management committee of the group’s Global Financial Advisory division. He has participated in a great many transactions and financial operations for large French industrial groups as Senior-Banker. He has assisted in their development, in France and internationally, such large firms as as Engie, Casino, Bouygues, Accor, Imerys, Suez or Kering. He has advised both CAC 40 and SMEs in their acquisitions and financing. With respect to investment funds, he is an advisor for PAI and Eurazeo.

From 2006 to 2010, he was a member of the French Prime Minister’s Conseil d’Analyse Économique. As such, he co-authored an important report on financing SMEs in 2009.

He is founding member of the think tank « Fondapol » as well as Vice Chairman of its Supervisory Board.

He is Officer of the « Légion d’honneur » and of the French « Ordre National du Mérite».
