Since he took office in January 2025 President Trump has been intent on unilaterally changing the geopolitical and trade arrangements that have provided the foundations of the world economy for close to 80 years.

What is the impact of the tariffs imposed so far? How should major traders such as the EU and China react? What is the future of the US-China trade and economic relationship? How will these changes impact the role of the US dollar and the international financial system? How will US moves impact the functioning of multilateral organisations such as the WTO, the World Bank or the IMF? This event will help address the impact of the US administration's measures on international trade and finance and its far reaching effects on the global economy.

With:

  • Jason Furman, Aetna Professor of the Practice of Economic Policy, Harvard Kennedy School;
  • Henry Gao, Professor of Law, Singapore Management University;
  • Tobias Gehrke, Senior policy fellow, European Council on Foreign Relations;
  • Pascal Lamy, Coordinator of the Jacques Delors Institutes (Paris, Berlin, Brussels); former Director-General of the World Trade Organisation;
  • Thierry Mayer, Professor of economics, Sciences Po.

This event will be chaired by PSIA Dean, Arancha González.
