In an era of rising political tensions and rapid geopolitical changes, international science can play a role in building trust and reducing conflict. Yet recent events of global magnitude such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, are questioning this standard vision of science diplomacy and its benefits.
Exploring and contrasting the historical legacies of international scientific collaboration during the Cold War and recent developments, Peter Gluckman pleads for a renewed science diplomacy that is fit for purpose in the 21st Century.
Guest speaker: Peter Gluckman, President of the International Science Council (ISC) and former science advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
The seminar will be chaired by Stéphanie Balme, Dean of Sciences Po's Undergraduate College and Research Director at Sciences Po's Center for International Studies (CERI).
