Global Affairs Forum

À propos de cet événement

Le 26 mai 2016 de 12:00 à 14:00

The Master of Public Affairs will host its fourth annual Global Affairs Forum. The morning will showcase the work that the MPA students have undertaken in their capstone projects for family, friends, faculty, returning students and partners of the MPA.  It will also provide an opportunity for a dialogue about the relevance of the themes that we discuss at the MPA to the bigger picture of global affairs.

10:10 to 10:40 a.m.: Dialogue of North and South

Among many other important and interesting questions, both of these projects raise the important question of the relationship between ideas that emerge in the north and how they are put into practice, often in the south.

10:10  Amnesty International

10:20  UNEP

10:30  Discussion

10:45 to 11:15 a.m.: Crossing Policy Domains

These projects both emphasize the importance of place while, at the same time, raising challenging questions about the way that we govern place.  Specifically, each raises the issue of how making policy in one domain affects and influences policy-outcomes others.

10:45 OECD

10:55 Urban Institute

11:05  Discussion

11:20 to 11:50 a.m.: Data Collection and Analysis

As more and more data become available to decision makers, more and more choices need to be made about how data is collected and how it influences decisions.  Among many other important and interesting questions, both of these projects deal with the role of data.

11:20 California Energy Commission

11:30 UNHCR

11:40  Discussion

11:55 a.m.: Wrap-up

Feel free to join, we look forward to seeing you there!
