Presentation

Culture is always referred to as soft power within the framework of international relationships. What does this mean? What kind of effects, impact and incidence are to be expected in the world through cultural events or artistic cooperation? What kind of activities do we have to foster to build a meaningful and impactful cultural diplomacy nowadays? Is the current transformation of cultural residencies a way to design a new influence of artists in all parts of the world? What kind of messages can the promotion and dissemination of arts spread? Can culture and arts transform societies and change the pattern of inequalities? How and where to place the role of classical music?

A discussion with:

  • Marina Chiche, violinist
  • Eva Nguyen Binh, President of the Institut Français

Moderation by Florence Botello, Academic Advisor for the Culture / Cultural Policy & Management stream of the Sciences Po’s School of Public Affairs, and students of the stream.
