The places where people live, their income, education, and gender—the determinants of health—profoundly shape health outcomes. These factors drive significant inequities within and between societies. Advancing health equity requires coordinated government action, strong political leadership, and coherent policies across sectors.
The conference highlights the political, social, and economic conditions that influence health and presents concrete examples of action to address these determinants to advance health equity.
Keynote Speakers
A global leader in the field, Prof. Michael Marmot, will explore how health inequities harm economies and societies, and highlight progress made through multisectoral and multidisciplinary approaches.
Nobel Prize–winning Economist Prof. Joseph Stiglitz will discuss how political and economic systems affect health equity, with a focus on access to medical products.
Expert Panel Discussion
A panel of 4 experts will underscore the importance of addressing gender inequality, digital transformation, and nutrition as key determinants of health, and will present concrete examples of actions undertaken within their respective areas of work and expertise.
Ambassador Tania Cavassini, Switzerland’s Ambassador to France, will deliver the closing remarks.
The conference will be moderated by Henry Bergeron, Dean of the School of Public Affairs at SciencesPo.
