Biodiversity in the Anthropocene
À propos de cet événement
Le 25 octobre 2021 de 19:00 à 21:00
An event in the framework of the webinar “Sciences and Politics of the Planet”, co-organised by the “Master en Arts Politiques” and the “Energy, Environment and Sustainability” policy stream of the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs.
In the last 400 years, although only twenty marine species have disappeared, sealife population has almost been divided by two. Marine biodiversity is indeed under multiple threats: littoral destruction, overexploitation, pollution, not to mention climate change.
Dr. Gilles Boeuf, former Scientific Advisor to the French Minister of the Environment, former Professor at the Collège de France and former President of the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, will share his experience on the state of knowledge on marine biodiversity and on policymaking related to the ocean.
He will discuss with Dr. Sébastien Treyer, Executive Director of IDDRI, Scientific advisor of the Energy, Environment and Sustainability stream at Sciences Po’s School of Public Affairs; and a group of students.
More specifically, the conference will focus on the role of public policies in creating a sustainable system of fisheries that can help preserving biodiversity in the oceans, while ensuring economic incomes to the fishing industry.
