Doing Digital Ethnography

14/06/2021

A methodological seminar on conducting fieldwork digitally.

Covid19 pandemic has affected field researchers by blocking their access to the field. A lot of uncertainty looms in the air about how and when international borders would fully open making fields accessible to researchers. During these challenging times, how can field researchers continue doing their fieldwork from distance, especially those pursuing their doctoral research?  What are some of the best practices to conduct digital ethnography efficiently? In this seminar, we discuss digital ethnography with two sociologists who have not only been employing digital ethnography in their research but also teaching it at the University of Chicago.

Speakers:
Caterina Fugazzola, Earl S. Johnson Instructor in Sociology, Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences, University of Chicago.
Sneha Annavarapu, Teaching Fellow in the Social Sciences Division, University of Chicago
