Master's exchange programme
All Master’s level exchange students at Sciences Po study on the Paris campus. They take the same courses as students doing a degree programme at Sciences Po and form an integral part of the student community.
Eligibility
The Master’s exchange programme is open to all students from partner universities who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (at least three full years of higher education).
Curriculum
Exchange students have access to the majority of Sciences Po’s Master’s programmes. However, certain programmes have linguistic and/or academic prerequisites. Students take the courses of the Master’s programme they are admitted to and cannot attend other Master’s level courses.
Study credits
Students should check with their home university about requirements for validating credits to count towards their Master’s programme at their home university. Students make take up to 30 ECTS credits per semester.

Language level
Master’s level exchange students can take courses in French, English or in both languages. The language proficiency required differs between programmes. For some programmes, applicants must have passed a French or English language test and send their certificate with the application. Some exemptions may apply.
Master’s programmes open to exchange students
Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA)
The Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po (PSIA) welcomes exchange students arriving in September or January for a period of one or two semesters, according to Sciences Po regulations.
Courses offered
In principle, all PSIA courses (Master’s programmes and concentrations) are open to exchange students admitted to PSIA. To this effect, space is reserved in each course for exchange students. PSIA accepts no liability in the event that a student cannot enroll in a particular course. In the spring semester, only 1st year courses are open to exchange students.
Language prerequisites
Exchange students must have a C1 level of English. Fluency in French is not required, but courses taught in French are available at PSIA (70 percent of courses are taught in English, 30 percent in French).
Academic prerequisites
To take the International Economic Policy courses, exchange students must have a Bachelor of Economics or very good results in micro- and macroeconomics courses at Bachelor’s level.
The spring courses of the Master of International Energy are not open to students who did not take the autumn courses for this Master’s programme at PSIA.
Courses specific to one-year Master’s programmes (e.g. Master in Development Practice) are not open to exchange students.
School of Public Affairs
The School of Public Affairs offers courses in the Master in Public Policy and the Master in European Affairs for exchange students admitted to the School. All elective courses of these masters are open. Policy streams courses of are also offered, depending on places available.
Classes are offered in French and English. Students will be able to take classes in English, French or both. Students must demonstrate a C1 level in one of the two languages of instruction.
Some policy streams courses require prerequisites in the topic area.
Law School
The Master in Economic Law of the Sciences Po Law School is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters.
Students can take courses in English, French or in both languages. Students must have a C1 level of proficiency to understand courses taught in English. Students must have a C1 level of proficiency to understand courses taught in French.
NB: Sciences Po Students have priority for the required courses. Some classes (notably during spring semester) have prerequisites indicated in the course description. Another issue, please note that the calendar for the spring semester of the first and second year are different.
School of Management and Innovation
Master in Communications, Media and Creative Industries
The Master in Communications, Media and Creative Industries is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in French (the English track is not open to exchange students) and must have a certified C1 level of French.
Master in Finance and Strategy
The Master in Finance and Strategy is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can take courses in English and French. Students must have a C1 level of English and a C1 level of French. Some courses have an academic prerequisite indicated on each syllabus and in the programme.
Master in International Management & Sustainability
The Master in International Management & Sustainability is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in English and must have a certified C1 level of English. Some courses have an academic prerequisite indicated on each syllabus and in the programme.
Master in Marketing
The Master in Marketing is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Classes are taught in French, and students must have a certified C1 level C1 in French. Some courses are offered in English and require a C1 in English.
Master in Marketing : New Luxury & Art de Vivre
The Master in Marketing : New Luxury & Art de Vivre is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Classes are taught in English, and students must have a certified C1 level in English.
Master in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources
The Master in Organizational Behaviour and HUman Resources is only open to exchange students who arrive in September for one semester. Students can only take courses in French and must have a certified C1 level of French. Previous study of human resources is a prerequisite.
Master in Innovation, Design and Creativity (formerly Innovation & Digital Transformation)
The Master in Innovation, Design and Creativity is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in French and must have a certified C1 level of French.

Urban School
Master Governing the Large Metropolis
The Master Governing the Large Metropolis is only open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in English and must have a certified C1 level of English. Exchange students who wish to join this Master’s programme must provide a cover letter in English describing their interest in issues specific to large cities. Some courses require prerequisites in Urban Studies. In spring semester, capstones are not open to exchange students.
Master Regional and Urban Strategies
The Master Regional and Urban Strategies is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in French and must have a certified C1 level of French. Exchange students who wish to join this Master’s programme must provide a cover letter in English describing their interest in urban and regional planning issues. In spring semester, team projects are not open to exchange students.

Doctoral school
The research Master’s programmes at the Sciences Po doctoral school are also open to exchange students The number of places open to exchange students is limited.
Master in Economics
The Master in Economics is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in English and must have a certified C1 level of English.
Master in Sociology (Research)
The Master in Sociology is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in French and English and must have a C1 level of French and a C1 in English. Academic prerequisites: students must have completed the first year of a Master’s programme to follow these courses.
Exchange students who wish to join this Master’s programme must provide a cover letter detailing their interest in the programme.
Master in Political Science (Research) in Comparative Politics
The Master in Political Science in Comparative Politics is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in French and must have a C1 level of French.
Academic prerequisites: students must have completed the first year of a Master’s programme to take the fourth year seminars, and must have completed the second year of a Master’s programme to take the fifth year seminars.
Master in Political Science (Research) in Political Theory, International Relations, Public Policy
The Master in Political Science in Political Theory, International Relations, Public Policy is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in French and must have a C1 level of French.
Academic prerequisites: a good grounding in political science.
Master in Political Science (English Track and track Political Behaviour)
The Master in Political Science in Political Science (English Track and track Political Behaviour) is open to exchange students who arrive in September or January for one or two semesters. Students can only take courses in Englishand must have a C1 level of English.
Academic prerequisites: a good grounding in political science.
Master in History
The Master in History is open to exchange students who come in September or January for one or two semesters. Students take classes only in French. Students must have a C1 level in French.
Please note
The Master in Political Science (Research) in International Relations is not open to exchange students. The Master in Judicial and Legal Professions, Master of Journalism and the masters in one year are not open to exchange students.
