On 12 March 2020, author and journalist Astrid Wendlandt came to Sciences Po to give a masterclass on the evolution of the luxury industry over the past forty years and the major challenges the industry faces.
She shared her insights on the corporate culture inside these global powerhouses and shared her secrets to succeeding in this highly competitive environment. The masterclass, organised by the Sciences Po School of Management and Innovation, was open to students and the public. In this interview, she discusses who runs the show today when it comes to major fashion and luxury brands, and how the industry is responding to millennials’ demands when it comes to ecological responsibility and sustainability, transparency and authenticity. Does “luxury” mean the same thing as it did forty years ago? Watch the video.
Ms. Wendlandt's book, How Luxury Conquered the World, was published in October 2019 by Miss Tweed Publishing. How Luxury Conquered the World can be found in English and in French on the Miss Tweed website.
