32 innovative projects to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The 2017 Annual GPPN Conference, organised by the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs, took place on 17-18 February at Sciences Po in Paris.
The annual conference brought together 130 students from the seven GPPN member schools: SIPA at Columbia University, the Institute of Public Affairs at the London School of Economics, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Tokyo, FGV-Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo, the Hertie School of Governance, and the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs.
This year’s conference offered students the opportunity to work together in teams to develop innovative and practical solutions for achieving the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Good Health and Well-being; Affordable and Clean Energy; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production; Climate Action; and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
During the conference, 32 student teams from the GPPN member schools presented their projects in the "180 seconds competition" before a jury of the deans from each school. Six teams were selected as finalists to present on day two, and one team was chosen to win the GPPN prize. Keynote speakers and additional jury members included Dr. Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet, Anne-Marie Idrac, Former French Minister of Transportation and Foreign Trade and President of the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs Strategic Committee, and Laurence Tubiana, President of the French Development Agency and the French Representative at the COP21.
