"Brexit is a strange decision"
On 24 September, 2019, renowned British author Jonathan Coe delivered a masterclass at Sciences Po as part of a series of literary conferences of this back-to-school season. The central theme of the conference: Brexit. Coe explained that he wrote his latest novel, Middle England, because he “didn’t understand the way British people [had] voted in 2016”. Sharing his views on both literary and political counts, he won over the audience with his insights and wit while reminding them that reality can often be even less optimistic than fiction.
