Writing & Politics: A Masterclass with Ece Temelkuran

About this event

17 April 2019 from 21:15 until 23:15

A Masterclass with Turkish journalist and author Ece Temelkuran, on the occasion of the publication of her book How To Lose A Country. The 7 Steps From Democracy To Dictatorship.
What are the insidious patterns and mechanisms of the populist wave sweeping the globe? How do the idea of « people », the infantilisation of language, the use of memory and history work together towards the same end? Is there still any possibility to change the outcome and to defend democracy? How can writing have a positive impact on the world and can a book give readers the tools to root populism out?
The Masterclass will be in English and followed by a signing session.
This Masterclass is co-organised by the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs and the Sciences Po Centre for Writing and Rhetoric, in partnership with the Editions Stock, as part of the Cultural Policy & Management Stream Masterclasses.
