The Energy Union, a new chance for Europe?
About this event
15 February 2016 from 16:15 until 17:30
An exceptional discussion with Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union.
Introduced by Enrico Letta, Dean of Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA)
Moderated by Giacomo Luciani, Scientific Advisor for the Master in International Energy of Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA)
The completion of the Energy Union is more pertinent than ever, following the COP21 success where the European Union helped break the most ambitious climate deal in history.
Only by integrating our common policies can Europe succeed in delivering the extraordinary transformation required by the Paris agreement. The envisaged changes are nothing short of a revolution across a range of policy areas such as: transport, energy, innovation, climate and others.
The Energy Union project therefore brings together at least fourteen EU commissioners, under the leadership of Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič. Will the Energy Union offer an opportunity for injecting new enthusiasm in the process of European integration, as the Coal and Steel Community did back in the 1950s?
