Sir David OMAND was the first UK Security and Intelligence Coordinator, responsible to the Prime Minister for the professional health of the intelligence community, national counter-terrorism strategy and “homeland security”. He was Permanent Secretary of the Home Office from 1997 to 2000, and before that Director of GCHQ, the UK’s signals intelligence and cybersecurity organisation. Previously, in the Ministry of Defence he served as Deputy Under Secretary of State for Policy, Principal Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary, and served for three years in NATO Brussels as the UK Defence Counsellor. He is the author of Securing the State. Sir David Omand is a Visiting Professor at PSIA where he teaches a course on ‘Understanding Modern Intelligence Analysis’.

With a Concentration Program in Intelligence Studies, PSIA is shedding light on an important field in international affairs. Every year more than 100 PSIA students enroll in this program which offers nine courses.
