Aryeh Neier is President Emeritus of the Open Society Foundations. He was president of the organisation from 1993 to 2012. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Human Rights Watch, which he co-founded in 1978. He spent 15 years working at the American Civil Liberties Union. He has taught at New York University, Georgetown University Law School and the University of Siena. In the autumn of 2012, he began serving as Distinguished Visiting Professor at PSIA, teaching a course on ‘Promoting Human Rights: History, Law, Methods and Current Controversies.’
