Contestation, Crisis, Resilience: The State of the State in the Arab World

About this event

21 June 2019 from 11:00 until 20:00

The popular uprisings and rebellions of the ‘Arab Spring’ as well as the spectacular rise and fall of Daesh have affected many countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in different ways. This raises the question of the current ‘state of the state’ in the region.
The invited speakers at the workshop explore domestic and international sources of the crisis and resilience of different MENA states, with a particular focus on Syria.
