About this event

07 March 2019 from 10:30 until 13:00

“Cognitive perspectives in political behavior”, a conference with:

  • Prof. Kevin Arceneaux, Temple University – A Need for Chaos and the Sharing of Hostile Political Rumors in Advanced Democracies
  • Dr. Coralie Chevallier, École normale supérieure – The psychology of pessimism in political choices
  • Dr. Marwa El Zein, University College London –  Shared responsibility in collective decision-making
  • Dr. Pierre Jacquet, École normale supérieure – The ecological roots of human susceptibility to social influence and obedience to authority
  • Prof. Manos Tsakiris, University of London – When the lens is too wide : the visual dehumanisation of refugees and its political consequences.

Abstract: In the last decades, cognitive approaches, and notably experimental psychology methods, have been applied to study the drivers and dynamics of political behavior. The aim of this conference is to give an overview of this field and to show how cognitive sciences can provide new insights into central questions in political sciences, such as the spread of false information, the dynamics of group decision-making and the determinants of political attitudes.
