The report of the group project "The territorial environments of metropolises: what strategies of cooperation in the service of the local development?" came online.

The Association of the managing directors of France (ADGCF), the Association of the Communities of France (AdCF) and the Association of the Towns of France (APVF) ordered to students of the Master in Regional and Urban Strategy, within the framework of the group project, a study to know better the cooperations between metropolises and territories which surround them. Five students presented their results on June 7th of this year.

By the analysis of three metropolitan configurations that are Lille, Nantes and Toulouse, the study was able to put forward the factors which condition the interterritorial dialogue in an institutional and political context of reconfiguration. Rich in 30 conversations with elected representatives and centre administration staff, this study gives to see a qualitative approach of the complex links which unite metropolises with the territories which line them.

Marion Bigay, Thibault Devillard, Lola Perez Inigo and Juliette Sainclair explained their work during a public meeting to the Caisse des dépôts in September, in the presence of the members of the network ADGCF in particular.

What is a group project?

Called also capstone or workgroup, this highlight of Master's degrees Regional and Urban StrategyGoverning the Large Metropolis and the Urban Planning Programme, puts the students in professional situation. These have to answer to an order of a private or public structure on an urban or territorial problem (housing environment, planning, economic development, transport, mobility, etc.).

During 5 to 9 months (according to the course), every team from 4 to 5 students works under the supervision of a tutor, a specialist of the handled question. The project ends in an oral presentation of the students to the commissioning organisation. This period of renditions takes place of the end of May to the middle of June.
