In the context of growing strategic rivalry and large asymmetries, it seems that security concerns take over from economic considerations. Given the new economic, societal and geopolitical challenges, Loukas Tsoukalis will explain the necessity for Europe to grow up as a political adult. He will argue that the EU may no longer have the option to continue as a trade and regulatory superpower. What is at stake in these challenges is whether the EU can exercise effective political power in a multipolar, highly asymmetrical, and increasingly unstable world.

A lecture by Loukas Tsoukalis, Affiliate Professor at PSIA, moderated by Yves Mény, former chair of the European University Institute
