The transition from education to the job market is a crucial step. Planning an international career requires a solid understanding of the employment trends, career opportunities and cultural differences worldwide.

At the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), we support our students throughout their time with us to help them pursue their professional goals. By giving them access to a wide range of dedicated resources and events, as well as PSIA’s network of Alumni, Faculty and Professionals, students are able to plan and refine their career path and relevant opportunities.

Define your career goals

Your academic advisor is there to help you to align your academic path with your professional goals. They have knowledge of the various working environments related to each Master, as well as where our graduates go to work after PSIA. You can reach them throughoutout the year for an individual discussion. 

In addition, you have access to Career counsellors via PSIA Careers and Sciences Po Career Services

Where are our graduates now?

Sciences Po conducts an annual survey to determine how graduates are doing 18 months after completing their degree programs. Over the past 3 years:

  • 80% of those who sought work were employed within 6 months after graduating
  • 34% secured a job before they graduated
  • 28% work in International Organisations (multilateral or non profit)
  • 60% take a first job outside of France

Prepare your future

One of the most important first steps in your job search is to develop an understanding of the sector and/or location in which you want to work and the opportunities available there. 

PSIA has developed a wide range of resources to help you, including a weekly newsletter with new positions and career advice, events with the Alumni, and a dedicated resource center. Step by step, we will help you to enhances your skills and facilitate your employability. PSIA Careers complement the support and activities provided by Sciences Po Career Service. Throughout the year, you have access to Sciences Po Career Fairs which allows you to meet with employers and refine your professional goals. The Sciences Po International Organisations Career Day is one of the momentums to explore the field of the IOs and to best prepare.

This section provides links to the main EU institutions, which employ nationals from the 28 EU member countries. Through regular 'open competitions' the EU select personnel for permanent and non permanent positions. The EU also employs contractual agents and temporary staff, offers traineeships and maintains databases of area experts.
