Stage de français intensif - Intensive French Program
The Stage de français intensif is custom-designed for PSIA students and is an outstanding opportunity for students from over 100 countries to develop and strengthen their fluency in French, regardless of their initial level. It is also a formidable occasion for students from all Masters at PSIA to launch each new semester of study together and to take best advantage of PSIA's bilingual and multicultural environment.
The intensive French program (Stage de français intensif) is based on an innovative, "layered" combination of small-group language courses, workshops, outings and other whole-group activities and is taught by a tight-knit group of carefully selected teachers. Individual tutoring sessions are also available. The Stage emphasizes language and culture learning through interaction and engagement with your fellow students, and students who show a high level of commitment and participation are certain to improve their grasp of French well beyond merely mastering grammar or learning new vocabulary.
The Stage takes place twice annually, the week before the beginning of each semester.
January 2019 Session
The January 2019 session of the program will take place from January 22 to January 25, 2019, and will be offered to all two-year PSIA students from levels A2 to C1, free of cost. Please note that if you register for the session, we will expect you to attend the language courses every day. Arrivals after January 22 unfortunately cannot be accommodated due to the intensive nature of the course.
While the sessions do not bear credits, they can enable students to advance to a higher level of French. Please note that this program is entirely ran by PSIA and is independent from Sciences Po's language department.
You will soon receive more specific information about the content of the program and the registration process.
Choosing your language level
Before you register, and if you are not registered in a French class at Sciences Po, you will first need to know your language level. Please find below a link to the self-placement guidelines that will help you determine your level:
How do I register?
For the January Session students will receive in December an invitation to register (on a first come, first served basis, for each language level), via a survey. Please note that the program is scheduled for some 120 students. Workshops and tutorials are only open to students registered for the language classes.
All year long and as soon as you are a registered student at Sciences Po, students can consult or borrow books to learn and improve French proficiency at Sciences Po's library (27, rue Saint Guillaume). You will find the catalogues in the following links:
