“We need the United Nations"

The inaugural Youth & Leaders Summit was organised by the Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs on 18 and 19 January 2016.

The summit, which is to be an annual event, brought together key thinkers and leaders in international affairs to engage in an open dialogue with Sciences Po students, who represent the new generation of international actors from around the globe.
This year’s summit addressed the role of the UN. Over two days, Sciences Po students discussed the role of the UN with leading figures including Martti Ahtisaari, former President of Finland, UN diplomat and mediator, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate; Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO; Pascal Lamy, former Director-General of the World Trade Organization; Kevin Rudd, head of the Asia Society Policy Institute and former Prime Minister of Australia; and Romano Prodi, President of the Foundation for World Wide Cooperation, former President of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Italy.
