Meet the 2016-2017 Eiffel Scholars at Sciences Po

On 28 November 2016, Sciences Po held a welcome breakfast for the 2016-2017 Eiffel Scholars at Sciences Po. This year’s recipients come from India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Russia, Brazil, Colombia, Israel and Palestine. The seventeen scholarship recipients are all outstanding students who chose to enrol in a graduate programme at Sciences Po. Kavya Tibrewal and Germán Vargas are among them.

Kavya comes from Jaipur in India and completed her undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of Delhi. She is now enrolled in the Master’s programme in Economics and Business at the Sciences Po School of Management and Innovation in Paris. “Being an Eiffel scholar has not only helped me finance my higher education but also made my adjustment to a new country and culture a convenient and enjoyable process,” Kavya says.  After her first few months at Sciences Po, she considers the university “the perfect place to grow among a multitude of brilliant minds,” adding that “it has been a terrific experience”.

German Vargas is a first-year student in the Master in International Development at the Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs. German has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá (Colombia). Before coming to Sciences Po, he acquired some professional experience in research and private consultancy, mainly in education. For his return to university, he chose Sciences Po for its “international reputation and its strong practical approach to development practice”. Upon his return to Colombia, he is looking forward to working in multilateral organisations and with the Colombian government.
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme enables top foreign students to enrol in a Master’s or PhD programme in French higher education institutions. The programme encourages applications from emerging countries at Master’s level, and from emerging and industrialised countries at PhD level.
