What COVID-19 does to Society
About this event
10 February 2021 from 18:00 until 19:30
A webinar in the framework of the Policy seminar “The COVID-19 crisis and its effects on Society”, with:
- Emanuele Ferragina, Associate Professor of Sociology at Sciences Po
- Ettore Recchi, Full Professor of Sociology at Sciences Po.
Organized in the framework of the Politics & Public Policy Policy Stream of the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs, the Policy seminar aims to shed expert light on a current issue by combining approaches and points of view. The objective is to give students different reading skills on these topics and to let them question the issues and challenges that affect our societies.
The theme selected this year is COVID-19 crisis and its effects on society. By crossing practitioners, researchers and academics’ points of view, the 4 sessions offered this semester will examine how the current health crisis has deeply affected society, politics, economics and communication.
The first conference will deal with the Social Effects of the COVID-19 crisis. Emanuele Ferragina and Ettore Recchi, both Professors of Sociology at the Observatoire sociologique du changement (OSC-Sciences Po), will present their work on Social Inequalities and Transformations during the COVID-19 crisis; building on some of their latest research, they will particularly analyse the effects of lockdown on Society.
The moderation will be carried out by a group of students of the Politics and Public Policy Stream, Sciences Po School of Public Affairs.
