Dans le cadre du cycle de leçons sur le conflit au Proche-Orient organisé par Sciences Po d'octobre 2024 à avril 2025, Laurence Louër, professeure associée à Sciences Po et directrice adjointe scientifique du Centre de recherches internationales (CERI) donnera la onzième leçon du cycle intitulée « The Gulf monarchies and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict » mardi 15 avril 2025. La leçon aura lieu en présentiel sur le campus de Menton de 17h à 19h, dans l'amphithéâtre Richard Descoings, 11, place Saint Julien, 06500 Menton.

Laurence Louër est professeure associée à Sciences Po et directrice adjointe scientifique du Centre de recherches internationales (CERI). 

Entre 2006 et 2016, elle a été rédactrice en chef de la revue Critique internationale et est membre du comité de rédaction d'Arabian Humanities depuis 2013. De 2004 à 2009, elle a été consultante permanente au Centre d’analyse, de prévision et de stratégie du ministère des Affaires étrangères et européennes. Elle a également dirigé le Conseil scientifique du pôle Égypte, Soudan, Péninsule arabique des UMIFRE entre 2013 et 2017.

Entre 2017 et 2020, elle a codirigé le double master Moyen-Orient Inalco-Sciences Po et, depuis 2021, elle codirige la majeure Politique comparée du master de science politique à Sciences Po. 

Parmi ses publications majeures figurent: To Be an Arab in Israel (Hurst/Columbia University Press, 2007), Sunnis and Shi’a: A Political History (Princeton University Press, 2020), Shiism and Politics in the Middle East (Hurst/Columbia University Press, 2012) et Transnational Shia Politics: Religious and Political Networks in the Gulf (Hurst/Columbia University Press, 2008). 

Ses recherches s’inscrivent dans plusieurs champs thématiques. Initialement intéressée par l’articulation entre Etats et minorités au Moyen-Orient (Israël et monarchies du Golfe), elle travaille aujourd’hui sur les relations entre travail et ordre politique dans les monarchies du Golfe, explorant l’impact des réformes du marché du travail sur les relations entre Etat, travail et capital.

As part of the series of lectures on the conflict in the Middle East organised by Sciences Po from October 2024 to April 2025, Laurence Louër, Associate Professor at Sciences Po and Deputy Scientific Director of the Centre for International Studies (CERI), will give the eleventh lecture of the series entitled "The Gulf Monarchies and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict" on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The lecture will take place in person at the Menton campus from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, amphitheatre  Richard Descoings, 11, Place Saint Julien, 06500 Menton.

Laurence Louër is Associate Professor at Sciences Po and Deputy Scientific Director of the Centre for International Studies (CERI). 

Between 2006 and 2016, she was the editor-in-chief of the journal Critique Internationale and has been a member of the editorial board of Arabian Humanities since 2013. From 2004 to 2009, she served as a permanent consultant at the Centre for Analysis, Forecasting, and Strategy of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. She also chaired the Scientific Council of the Egypt, Sudan, and Arabian Peninsula division of UMIFRE from 2013 to 2017.

Between 2017 and 2020, she co-directed the dual master’s programme on the Middle East at Inalco-Sciences Po, and since 2021, she has co-led the Comparative Politics major in the Sciences Po master's degree in political science. 

Among her major publications are To Be an Arab in Israel (Hurst/Columbia University Press, 2007), Sunnis and Shi’a: A Political History (Princeton University Press, 2020), Shiism and Politics in the Middle East (Hurst/Columbia University Press, 2012), and Transnational Shia Politics: Religious and Political Networks in the Gulf (Hurst/Columbia University Press, 2008).

Her work covers several thematical field. She initially worked on the relations between states and minorities in the Middle East (Israel and the Gulf states) and is now working on labor and the political order in the Gulf, exploring how labor market reforms transform relations between state, labor and capital.
