The conference will focus on the decline of democratic norms under the Trump administration. This decline is illustrated in three distinct ways: the rewriting of US history and purging of elements judged to be unfavorable to the administration; the weaponization of religion for political purposes; the use of court decisions, sometime favorable, sometime unfavorable to the administration and the more general “autocratic drift” of the U.S. presidency.

Speakers:

  • Virginie Adane (Nantes University)
The Trump Administration and the Rewriting of US History
  • Denis Lacorne (CERI-Sciences Po)
The Weaponization of Religion by the Trump Administration
