What strategic steps should Europe take to bolster its defence capabilities? How can the EU navigate the complex landscape of international security while ensuring the cohesion of its member states? And what role will partnerships and alliances play in this endeavour?

On 17 September, the spotlight is on Tobias Lindner, German Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, who presents his views on how France and Germany can contribute to answering these pressing questions.

This event, organised by the Jacques Delors Centre and Sciences Po, features welcome words by Anne-Célia Feutrie, Executive Director of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po, and an introduction by Johannes Lindner, Co-Director of the Jacques Delors Centre. It is moderated by Arancha González, Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs.

Our Spotlight guest, Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, delivers a keynote on European security and defence policy and subsequently engage in a discussion with the on-site public.

This Spotlight event is part of the Pariser Platz Dialogue, a series of high-level events bringing together French and German decision-makers for an exchange of ideas throughout the year. The Pariser Platz Dialogue series is kindly supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
