Online conference in the framework of the "Science and Politics of the Planet" webinar, organised within the Energy, Environment and Sustainability stream of the School of Public Affairs

Presentation

Everyday and everywhere, we are exposed to toxic chemicals. Despite the political will of the EU to ban a major list of chemicals by 2030, many questions are raised concerning the assessment of their dangerousness and the determination of safety thresholds. Bob Diderich, Head of the Environment, Health and Safety Division at the OECD, will shed light on these issues during the seminar.

Biography

Bob Diderich is a specialist in environmental hazards and risks related to the use of chemicals and biocides. He has worked in the German Federal Environment Agency, in the French government at the Ministry of the Environment and at the National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks. In 2002, he joined the OECD and managed the Chemical Assessment Programme and the OECD Structure-Activity Relationships (Quantitative) Project. Since 2012, he is Head of the Environment, Health and Safety Division.

The webinar will be moderated by Sébastien Treyer, Executive Director of IDDRI and Scientific Advisor of the Energy, Environment and Sustainability stream at the School of Public Affairs.
