Paul Smith: From Bike Accident to Global Business

« Classic with a twist » is how the British designer Paul Smith defines his style and the philosophy of his company.
Since 1970 when he opened his first shop in Nottingham, he turned his name into a label and the label into a real empire.
For Paul Smith, « inspiration is everywhere» and there are many references in his work to art, architecture, cycling, photography and even to every-day life.
His creations are underpinned by a dry British sense of humour and mix the craftsmanship of the traditional British tailoring with a contemporary vision.
His motto «You Can Find Inspiration In Everything, And If You Can’t Look Again!» remains the guiding principle of his career and the development of his company which is still independent.
