Can the risk of climate change be managed to protect economies and assets? Is “sustainable development” possible in a rapidly warming world and on a planet with limits to growth?
This masterclass examines historical debates within the European Economic Community and European Union about approaches to addressing climate change, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and facilitating green transition from the 1990s to the present when the EEC/EU worked to leverage its market power to become a global climate leader.
Participants in this event are invited to reflect on the relationship of environmental and economic policy and the role of Europe in global climate governance.
Event organised with the support of the Sustainability, Organisations and Institutions Graduate School (Université Paris Cité).
