On the occasion of the second Grande Conférence of 2026, Sciences Po has the honour of welcoming a panel of distinguished speakers for a high-level discussion entitled “The War on Ukraine: What Needs to Change?”
More than four years after the launch of Russia’s full-scale invasion, its war against Ukraine continues to profoundly reshape Europe’s security architecture, economic stability, and commitment to democratic values and international law. As the conflict enters a critical phase, urgent questions arise regarding military support, economic reconstruction, accountability for war crimes, and the future of European and transatlantic solidarity.
This discussion will assess the current state of the conflict and explore what strategic, political and moral shifts are required to support Ukraine effectively and ensure a just and lasting peace.

- Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
- Oleksandra Matviichuk, Ukrainian human rights lawyer and recipient of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize
- Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, European Commissioner for Implementation and Simplification, and former Prime Minister of Latvia
