European Economic Integration Post-Covid: Policy Challenges and Political Opportunities

About this event

17 March 2022 from 15:45 until 17:45

During the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Marco Buti will trace the economic and policy debates that have taken place within the European Union, against the backdrop of the financial and sovereign crises of the last decade, and more recently, the global pandemic. He will fuse his experience in the field with the analytical and empirical foundations of EU policy choices, explored in his recent book. Marco Buti will outline a new compass to help understand the policy strategy the EU has adopted to fight the economic fallout of the pandemic and identify the future priorities.
Following Marco Buti’s presentation, Xavier Ragot will offer his own perspective and open the discussion on the future steps the EU may adopt to strengthen the process of EU integration, before moving onto an open Q&A with the audience.
Speakers:

  • Marco Buti, Head of Cabinet of Paolo Gentiloni, Commissioner for Economy, and a former Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission
  • Xavier Ragot, Research Director at CNRS, Professor of Economics at Sciences Po and President of OFCE/Sciences Po.
