An international diplomat, Lakhdar Brahimi is a faculty member at Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) and a member of The Elders.

He was the Joint Special Representative of the United Nations and the Arab League for Syria (2012-2014), UN Special Envoy in Iraq (2004), UN Special Representative in Afghanistan (2001-2004), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria (1991-1993).
