After Brexit: Beginning of the end or new start for the EU?
About this event
26 February 2020 from 18:00 until 20:00
A conference with Pierre Moscovici, former member of the European Council, of the European Parliament and of the European Commission.
The EU has always been a story of enlargements and attractiveness. For the first time, it has lost a member state, and one of the most important ones. This is not an anecdote, or business as usual, but a drama.
For some, it is an example to follow, that would lead to the victory of nationalism and populism. For others, it can be an opportunity for a stronger integration at 27.
In any case, it gives rise to a complicated period, with very tough negotiations ahead, and raises several major challenges for the EU in the years to come.
“I would like to reflect on these challenges from my long experience as a former member of all the European institutions – Council, Parliament, Commission – over the last 25 years, with enthusiasm as well as realism”. Pierre Moscovici
Moderation by Olivier Rozenberg, Associate Professor at the Centre for European Studies & Comparative Politics, Sciences Po.
Conference held in English.
