PSIA is delighted to welcome Salomé Zourabichvili, Fifth President of Georgia and a Sciences Po alumna, for a 60-minute session chaired by PSIA Dean, Arancha González.

President Zourabichvili will focus on the political situation in Georgia and its future aspirations and on the wider situation in Europe, including the challenges posed by a revisionist Russia. She will also focus on the importance of strengthening democratic resilience.

Salomé Zourabichvili has been the Fifth President of Georgia since December 2018 and is the first woman to ever be elected to this position. Born in Paris to a family of Georgian political refugees, she joined the French diplomatic service in the 1970s, holding several senior positions before serving as the Ambassador of France to Georgia from 2003 to 2004.

In 2004, she became the Foreign Minister of Georgia. During her tenure, she conducted Georgia's new pro-Western foreign policy, negotiating the first steps of the country's integration into the European Union and NATO. In 2005, she successfully negotiated a treaty that led to the withdrawal of Russian forces from the undisputed parts of the Georgian mainland. One of her main goals remains Georgia's integration into the EU and NATO. Salome Zourabichvili is a strong supporter of her country's EU membership, a priority she cited as president-elect in November 2018.

Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
